200 Miami-Dade bus drivers called in sick Friday apparently over a lack of pay & benefit. The union says it did not authorize the walkout, but understand the pay and benefits issues.
District superintendent Alberto Carvallho tweeted today...
"Yesterday’s bus delays were regrettable and avoidable. Kids and employees
should not be pawns of a union that doesn’t show up to negotiate".
The district asures parents that automated phone calls and emails will be sent to inform those families if their route is affected again on Monday.
It might be good for parents to have a "Plan B" ready to go, just in case.
