One Year Later, Tasered Graffiti Artist's Family Says There's No Justice

Wednesday, August 6th marks one year since South Florida graffiti artist Israel "Reefa" Hernandez died after being tasered by Miami Beach Police Officer Jorge Mercado during a confrontation.

Hernandez family spokesman Jorge Estomba says they'll be remembering "Reefa" at a vigil in front of the abandoned McDonald's restaurant where the incident took place.

Hernandez's paintings will be on display, and his sister is expected to read some of his poetry during what Estomba says will be a religious ceremony.

Estomba says family and friends are still asking for justice in the case, pushing for charges against Officer Mercado.

They are also pushing for a moratorium on the police use of taser guns until more research can prove that they are non-lethal weapons.
